Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) Lining

Since 2004, our Miami-based sewer pipe lining company has been restoring underground sewer cast iron drains in under 400+ homes a year! Any type of pipe can be permanently restored through a process called “Trenchless Sewer Pipe Lining”. The older technology which has been around since 1998, is called CIPP. We try to use the newest Epoxy Pipe Lining technology because it has so many benefits  over CIPP.

Either way, there is no need to dig up floors or walls, and the pipe lining installation takes about 1 day and costs about half as much as excavation, and comes with a 50-year warranty. All homes in Miami Dade County built before 1972, have cast iron drain pipes under the slab. Over time, the bottom of the pipe corrodes and becomes so thin that a crack forms that has serrated edges. That causes toilet paper and other debris to get stuck, which in turn causes repeated backups into toilets, showers, and bathtubs.

How Strong Is The Pipe Lining?

The pipe liner is a fabric tube made of polyester which is then “wet out” with a 2-part epoxy resin which is mixed together in a certain proportion. In about 30 minutes resin heats up by itself to 180 degrees Fahrenheit due to an exothermic chemical reaction and becomes rock hard.

The resulting new inner pipe liner is so strong that it is a stand-alone pipe, not needing the old exterior pipe for structural integrity. The liner is designed to go under load-bearing footers, roads, driveways etc.

Benefits

  1. Cost-Effective Solution: Epoxy Pipe Lining
    • Replacing pipes is significantly more expensive than lining them, with costs 50% to 75% higher.
    • Epoxy pipe lining is a non-invasive process that doesn’t cause damage to buildings or landscapes.
    • Reconstruction costs for repiping can be 60% of direct pipe repair costs, while epoxy pipe lining eliminates the need for reconstruction.
    • Corrosion over time can lead to a loss of up to 75% of the original flow capacity, resulting in higher energy bills. Restoring pipes through epoxy pipe lining helps reduce energy costs.
  2. Safe and Durable Epoxy Pipe Lining
    • Our epoxy spray systems create a safe and protective barrier between the pipe and water, preventing harmful elements from leaching into the water supply.
    • We use a chemical-resistant, non-toxic epoxy lining with NSF/ANSI-61 certification, approved for drinking water.
    • Testing engineers estimate that the epoxy has a life expectancy of approximately 50 years.
  3. Minimal Downtime with Epoxy Pipe Relining
    • Epoxy pipe lining takes significantly less time compared to traditional repiping methods.
  4. Minimal Disruption and No Occupant Displacement with Epoxy Pipe Lining
    • Belco’s pipe restoration process with epoxy pipe lining is quick, quiet, and non-invasive, rarely requiring occupants to be displaced from buildings.
    • Temporary bypass water systems are quickly installed when necessary to ensure uninterrupted water service, allowing occupants, businesses, and clientele to continue their normal activities.
  5. Versatility of Epoxy Pipe Lining
    • Epoxy pipe lining can be applied in any metal pipe within various buildings, structures, or environments, whether above or below ground.
    • It is suitable for piping systems in hotels, high-rise condominiums, hospitals, restaurants, airports, schools, museums, U.S. Navy ships, and commercial and industrial businesses.
    • Our solution of epoxy pipe lining is applicable to potable water pipes, hot water recirculation systems, fire sprinkler and fire suppression systems, chiller lines, and HVAC systems.
